Congratulations to Olena Svetlov on her 2022 Circle of Excellence Award

Olena Svetlov is a clinical nurse at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Early in the pandemic, the city had many unhoused populations urgently needing to be housed to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

When Svetlov learned about her hospital forming a team to help unhoused patients, she immediately volunteered. As an adult-gerontology nurse practitioner, she worked with a group of physicians, social workers, case managers, dental hygienists, psychologists, nurses and support staff at various shelters in Los Angeles. She helped assess and triage over 300 patient encounters during the initial crisis.

Svetlov was president of AACN’s San Fernando Valley Chapter when the pandemic hit, and with the support of AACN leaders, she created two virtual educational symposiums. She is a trusted mentor for her nursing colleagues and is widely known for helping individuals and teams.
